Brunch at Mr. Braxton
Last weekend I got the opportunity to check out Mr. Braxton Restaurant & Bar for brunch, and it exceeded my expectations. I was eager to check out the restaurant for two main reasons: 1. It’s black-owned and 2. The ambiance was taken into account along with curating a pretty good menu, which is often not the case with black-owned restaurants. Mr. Braxton embodies urban chic very well with obvious vintage influences throughout the restaurant. One area of the bar has a modern tufted leather couch surrounded by hanging plants, which makes the area the perfect spot to sit and catch up with your friends over happy hour.

The owner did a great job of maximizing the space by having an outdoor patio with a successfully implemented Alice in Wonderland theme. The mural on the floor and wall is colorful and fun and is the perfect instagrammable moment for the restaurant.

Location & Parking: Mr. Braxton is located at 3632 Georgia Ave NW, Washington, with ample street parking available. Food & Experience: Mr. Braxton offers CBD-infused cocktails, which is pretty unique and distinguishes the bar from others in the area. I didn’t try the cocktails, but if you’re looking for a unique experience, it’s worth trying a drink or two. My friend and I went for brunch, and the food was pretty good with generous portion size.

Naturally, I had the Vanilla Bean Challah French Toast ($14) that hit the spot and satisfied my sweet tooth. My friend got the Steaks & Eggs ($18). The steak in the dish is balsamic marinated hanger steak and to be honest I wish I got the Steaks and Eggs instead because it was so flavorful. Both meals were served with fresh fruit and home fries, which provided an added value to the dish. Our waitress Dice was superb and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed.

All in all, I would recommend checking out Mr. Braxton and cant wait to come back for happy hour on the patio.
