Brunch @ City Perch

June 14, 2017

A month ago I had dinner at City Perch Kitchen + Bar  and did a blog post about my experience.  To summarize, I stated that it was definitely on my agenda to go back for either brunch or happy hour since I enjoyed the food and the ambiance. Flash forward to last Sunday and I had the opportunity to try out their brunch menu with a friend of mine. City Perch is located in the same building as the iPic theater, so it's pretty convenient for a movie and dinner date.

Location and Parking:  City Perch is located in North Bethesda, which is pretty close to Bethesda Row. There is a parking garage located right beside the restaurant and parking is free for the first 2 hours Monday – Sunday.  You already know my struggle with parking, so free parking instantly made City Perch golden in my book.

Food and Experience: Our reservation was at 11 am, which worked in our favor because the staff was pretty attentive. The manager offered us a complimentary bread basket, which was seriously the bomb.com ( don’t judge me ). Without my years of participating in bottomless brunch and learning the art of pacing myself, I would have definitely been filled to the brim. The bread basket consisted of: blueberry muffin, orange sage biscuit, croissant, taco croissant,  and honey dipped cornbread. The honey dipped cornbread was my favorite, which is saying a lot since I'm not a cornbread type of girl. I would recommend getting the basket if you go with a party of 3 or more otherwise, it would be easy to fill up on just the treats offered in the basket alone.

City Perch has a brunch box option, which is a steal for $20.  With the brunch box, you get to pair any entrée with your choice of (1) coffee, tea, juice, soda,  or an alcoholic beverage. I got the crab cake eggs benedict with the house punch, my friend got the three-egg omelette and we shared the French toast.

Sweets are my weakness, so it didn’t take much for me to thoroughly enjoy the French toast. The whipped mascarpone inside the French toast really made the dish unique and delicious. Without a doubt, this was the winning dish for brunch. The crab cake benedict was pretty yummy too. The crab cake was flavorful and the poached eggs were perfectly done. I like the fact that crab cakes are an option, since most restaurants only give you the basic of options smoke salmon, bacon etc. My friend described her omelette as seasoned to perfection. She’s Jamaican also and we are pretty hard to please when it pertains to flavor, so I would take her word for it.

I see myself visiting City Perch again in near future. You really can't beat the location and the food. You get the city vibe without all the hassles that come with driving into the city and the food is absolutely delicious. If you haven’t been there before I suggest putting it on your list and visiting while we still have this beautiful weather.
