If you weren’t aware, I am a Jamaican transplant who moved to the DMV area roughly ten years ago. One common complaint I typically hear from my fellow Jamaicans is that the Caribbean food/restaurant scene is vastly underrepresented in the DMV area compared to othe...

We're living through a pandemic, and the restaurant industry has been hit extremely hard, but luckily restaurants have been given the go-ahead to re-open in the DMV area. With that in mind, we've to adjust to the new normal,  and personally, I feel better visiting a re...

A couple of weeks ago, I traveled to South Africa for my birthday and had a great time with a group of friends. Initially, South Africa wasn’t on my radar, but when a friend of mine mentioned that he was planning a trip there, I took the opportunity to invite myself on...

I am always on the hunt for different activities in the DMV that doesn't necessarily involve going out to brunch or dinner, and with Valentine's day around the corner, I wanted to share my list of fun activities/places to go to in the DMV.

1. Dumbarton Oaks Gardens- Tra...

I am always on the hunt for new activities in the DMV area, so when I found out about Wonderfly Arena, I immediately knew that I wanted to check out the facility. I went with a group of girlfriends of mine and can honestly say we had a blast letting loose and embracing...

I’ve probably made this statement a million times before, but Thai is easily one of my favorite cuisines. It’s hard to beat the flavorful food and affordable price you’re able to find at a Thai restaurant. SOI 38 has been on the DC Michelin Guide for the past four year...

Last weekend a group of friends and I found the lost tomb of a pharaoh, foiled an evil corporation plan to start a nuclear war, and attempted to slay a dragon that managed to escape from a storybook all within an hour and a half time frame. At this point, you might be...

Last weekend I got the opportunity to check out Mr. Braxton Restaurant & Bar for brunch, and it exceeded my expectations. I was eager to check out the restaurant for two main reasons:  1. It’s black-owned and 2. The ambiance was taken into account along with curating...

In my last blog post I mentioned that I wanted to start exploring Baltimore food scene more and I’ve stayed true to my words and have visited a couple of spots  during the past couple of weeks. One spot that I was very excited to finally check out was Gunther & Co. and...

About DC Trinity

Hey my name is Petal McDonald and i know being in your 20’s or 30's can be hard especially if you want to enjoy the city as much as possible with limited funds. Personally I enjoy finding new restaurants to try, free events to attend (or inexpensive events), enjoying the night life and finding the right workout classes (which is still a struggle for me). My aim in starting this blog is to provide my potential reader with a starting point for how to navigate the city, while staying within their budget and having a good time. I use the word city loosely because even though majority of my pieces on this blog will center on activities in DC , not all of them are found within the city, which is definitely not a bad thing.
